Q&A
What is noddock, and what can it do?
noddock is a locally run, node-based AI application editor that makes it quick and easy to build AI-driven apps or games. It ships with rich custom node support: write JS / Python nodes to add any functionality, run exec commands (disabled in Safe Mode) or connect to remote databases, and build an HTML-based interface around any node.
The software is only an editor and project manager; it does not provide AI services itself. You bring your own API key, or point it at the port of a local AI server.
How is noddock billed?
The paid module is not live yet; the notes below explain the billing rules in advance.
Billing models: subscriptions (recurring) and one-off purchases (a fixed period, a permanent right, or countable goods). Actual prices and available payment methods are those shown in the store — see the Terms & Billing Policy.
Expiry: time-based access accumulates — each purchase is added on top of your current expiry (or starts at payment time if it has already expired).
Auto-renewal: subscriptions are charged automatically at the start of each billing cycle. Cancel anytime on the account page; no further charges apply and you keep access until the end of the paid period.
Refunds: a full refund revokes the rights granted by that payment; partial refunds are recorded only and reviewed manually; consumed periods are non-refundable.
Digital content: supply begins immediately after payment, and you acknowledge that you therefore lose the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal where permitted by law.
Can I use noddock for free?
Yes. The editor itself is free and includes all core features: create and run unlimited projects, import projects shared by others, and keep using it at no cost. A subscription is only required to export projects or to use your output commercially.
What counts as a "core feature", and how does the subscription differ?
Core features are everything you need to create and run projects in the editor: unlimited projects, creating and running nodes and workflows, importing .ntk project packages, and building custom nodes and HTML-based interfaces.
The subscription adds two things on top: exporting projects as standard .ntk packages (for sharing and backup), and a commercial-use licence for your exported output.
Exporting is not required to run the software — the free tier remains fully usable for authoring and local execution.
What exactly does "commercial use" cover, and who should I contact?
Commercial use falls into two types. Type 1: exporting projects and distributing or delivering them, earning real benefit under your own name or your company's; every commercial-use statement on this page and in the store refers to Type 1. Type 2: using noddock to run projects in order to provide services to others for profit; no licence is granted for Type 2 at all, and individuals and companies alike must contact our sales team first — fuller rules will follow.
Scope of a Type 1 licence: an individual subscription covers your own commercial activity and that of your personal studio, including client deliverables and internal use; companies, teams and use on behalf of an organisation require a per-seat Enterprise licence.
For licensing scope, volume purchases, invoices or contracts, contact [email protected].
How secure is noddock?
noddock runs entirely locally with no cloud service or extra extension required; network access is used only for account identity and entitlement checks, and for third-party APIs you connect yourself.
Safe Mode is enabled by default: custom nodes cannot run, JavaScript is not executed inside the sandbox, and exec nodes are unavailable.
exec nodes become available only after you explicitly enable Dev Mode in settings. Code may then execute on your device with your account privileges, so run only projects you trust and accept the risk — see the User Service Agreement.
How does noddock use my data?
Account: your email is used for registration and sign-in; phone and Google sign-in are optional.
Region: your IP is used only to infer the store country/region and display currency, not as identity information.
Payments: processed by Stripe — we never receive or store your card number; the billing address is used only for tax compliance and receipts.
We do not run ads or advertising profiles and do not sell personal data. You can export or delete your personal data in the account settings at any time — see the Privacy Policy.
What does the "country/region" in my account mean, and how do I change it?
It is the store pricing region of your account: it determines the display currency and available payment methods, and is not the same as your physical location.
To switch, select a new country/region in the store and complete one payment in the new currency; the billing address must match the target region, and the account region updates automatically after a successful payment.
To prevent abuse, changes are rate-limited (currently once every 90 days). If you have an active subscription, cancel it first to avoid double billing.
What is planned next?
The near-term focus is fixing issues and improving stability for the beta, followed by a mobile release.
To report a problem or request early access, contact [email protected], or open an issue in the official GitHub repository.
